Frequently Asked Questions about LLB - Sem 2 - PRRLC - OU #
⚠️ All information below is for educational purposes only. There may be inaccuracies. You are advised to consult your law college or Osmania University directly for official clarification. Though efforts have been made to ensure accuracy, no guarantee is provided.
This info applies only to 2024 admits. Rules for previous batches or future batches maybe different.
If I have backlogs from first semester in LLB at Osmania University, can I write them now in the second semester? #
Yes. At Osmania University, if you have backlogs in any semester, you are permitted to write them during the even semesters.
- Even semesters are: Semester 2, Semester 4, and Semester 6.
- If you have a backlog from Semester 1, you may write it during Semester 2.
- If you do not clear it in Semester 2, you can attempt it again in Semester 4, and then in Semester 6.
- Backlogs from Semester 2 can only be cleared during Semester 4, not Semester 3.
- If you enrolled in 2024, you are given a maximum of 4 years from date of enrolment to clear all papers. This is different based on when you enrolled in the LLB program. Earlier enrolments had 6 and 5 years and now at present, it is 4 years. For 2024 admits, it is 2028.
Should I pay the exam fee even though I will not be able to attend the exams? #
Yes, you must pay the exam fee even if you are not attending the exams.
- If you pay the exam fee but remain absent for all 5 Semester 2 exams, you will still be eligible to appear in the next opportunity (i.e., Semester 4).
- You will be given a blank memo for Semester 2.
- If you fail to pay the exam fee, your LLB admission will lapse, and you will no longer be considered a student.
- Therefore, always pay the exam fee to maintain your student status and eligibility for future exams.
Do I have to pass the internals? Do I have to pass the theory paper? Or are the marks added together? #
You must pass both the internals and the theory paper separately.
-
Each subject carries:
- 20 marks for internals
- 80 marks for theory
-
You must secure:
- Minimum 8 marks out of 20 in internals (40%)
- Minimum 32 marks out of 80 in theory (40%)
✅ As long as you pass the LLB (i.e., obtain the minimum required 40% in each subject), you will be eligible to enroll in the Bar Council and become a practicing advocate. The grade or division does not matter for Bar Council enrollment.
However, if you plan to apply for government jobs, such as:
- Junior Civil Judge positions (60%+ Required),
- Law Research Associate roles at tribunals, or
- Other similar legal posts,
then your percentage in LLB will be considered. A low score might reduce your chances.
A high percentage in LLB is also needed if you plan to get into higher education in Law in India or abroad.
How many papers do I need to clear in order to be promoted to semester three? #
You must clear at least 5 subjects out of the total 10 subjects in Semester 1 and Semester 2 combined.
- There are 5 subjects each in Semester 1 and Semester 2.
- If you fail to clear at least 5 subjects, you will be detained and will have to repeat the entire academic year.
